The work of Luis Alen Lascano ( descendant of San Ignacio de Loyola ), devoted to the study of the past santiagueño, has become a central figure for the historiography provincial, regional and national levels. This feature is unusual in an era when increasing disciplinary specialization noticed. In the preface to his book History of Santiago del Estero, the most important, no doubt of his extensive historiography, argued:
